Born April 14, 2006 on Assateague Island, Virginia from Courtney's Boy and Unforgettable's union, Diamond's Jewel was purchased as a buyback for $2,300 by Suzanne Craig who later transferred her registration to her grand-niece, Riley Dickson. Her herd number was B35. Descending from grandsire Premierre, her Arabian aristocracy blessed her with a natural gracefulness. She was easily spotted in a crowd with her piercing blue eye, exceptionally long flowing mane, unique blaze and four socks. A maiden mare at five, she birthed "ChIP", and for the next four years she and the famous Surfer Dude produced three more stunning colts and one beautiful filly. When Surfer Dude died in the early Spring of 2015, the last foal of Surfer Dude and Diamond's Jewel was born a few months later - a filly now named Surfer's Last "Jewel". All totaled, they produced five beautiful foals.
It is said that Surfer Dude and his lead mare, Surf Queen, walked away quietly one day after a peaceful exchange between the two stallions, leaving their son, Riptide in charge of the herd, of which Diamond's Jewel remained. Surfer Dude's remains were found not long thereafter, and his lead mare remained unattached for quite some time. A year later on April 18, 2016, bred by Riptide, Diamond's Jewel birthed a gorgeous, rare, blue-eyed, splash colt. At Pony Penning 2016, Teresa Hemphill won the auction bid for foal #38 at $10,500 and named him Riptide's Twinkling Jewel, "Twinkie" for short. And so began a new branch of Diamond's Jewel's tree. Unfortunately, in the spring of 2017, Diamond's Jewel would bring her last foal into the world, a beautiful, perfect filly with large star and wide blaze strikingly similar to her own. The Blevins family would name her "Gemma". Sadly, in early November 2017, Diamond's Jewel lost a battle from Equine Pythiosis and had to be euthanized. |
